Tom Watson was quoted as saying ‘Royal County Down is a pure links, in the truest sense of the word’. If you love your links golf and like to play the very best courses in the World, then this is one you cannot miss.
When the weather blows, and it usually does here, then it is an incredibly tough course, but you certainly get your reward. There are few more beautiful places to be than on this hallowed turf beneath the imposing Mourne Mountains, and the quality of each and every hole will have you wanting more. We’d recommend this place to anyone, especially if you’ve time to create an extended stay – try the wonderful new spa at the Slieve Donard Hotel next door. Altogether a truly memorable venue.

I couldn’t recommend this course highly enough. A must play if in Northern Ireland
