Luna Golf are delighted to look after two National Golf Tournaments on behalf of Mercedes-Benz, including this, the MercedesTrophy. The MercedesTrophy is one of the most prestigious and exclusive amateur competitions on the UK golfing calendar, and for over 20 years both existing and potential customers of Mercedes-Benz have been taking part in this fantastic golf tournament.

THE FORMAT

Budding golfers from across the UK who drive a Mercedes-Benz (or are considering doing so) are invited to the competition in early spring for the first of five stages – a Retail Outlet Golf Day. These days are a great opportunity to see new products and enjoy a round of golf as a thank you for buying into one of the most distinguished brands in the World.

The competition soon heats up, with the top players qualifying to a Market Area Final. At this tournament there are just three valuable qualifying spots on offer, with the leading individual from each of three handicap categories forming a Market Area representative team at a MercedesTrophy Regional Final.

The Regional Finals include 18 holes Team Stableford at a championship venue, as well as dinner and accommodation at a local boutique hotel. Qualifiers to the Regional Finals are sure to enjoy some terrific hospitality, but for a lucky few it’s just the start of things, with nine teams qualifying to enjoy the delights of the National Final.

The UK National Final is the culmination of a season of fine golf and first class hospitality, with guests treated to 4 nights at a top European Golf Resort and 54 holes of golf.

Many of the testimonials on this site refer to just how impressive the National Final is, as players enjoy Trick Shot shows and video commentary from David Edwards, video compilations of all the action, personalised photo montages, some fantastic food and wine, and most notably the company of so many great characters that make the MercedesTrophy National Final a truly unforgettable experience.

Furthermore, three lucky individuals go on a stage further and represent the UK at the MercedesTrophy World Final, held at the home of Mercedes-Benz in Stuttgart. At this event in Germany, there are some 30 different National Teams enjoying an unbelievable brand experience and competing for the biggest prize of all, the Mercedes-Benz Nations Trophy.

LUNA GOLF’S WORK

As the official tournament office for the MercedesTrophy, Luna Golf administer and direct the whole of the UK tournament in conjunction with Mercedes-Benz UK. Our responsibilities that could be of use to your company too, include the following:

Administration

To liaise with the entire retail network and coordinate tournament entries
To source and secure an attractive schedule of tournament venues and dates
Finalise the Tournament format and prepare detailed Tournament Rules
Preparation of promotional literature & brochures
Negotiations with golf clubs of all green fees, catering arrangements, plus additional costs such as course planners, practice golf balls, buggies, trolleys etc
Liaison with clubs on all timings and arrangements on the course
Liaise and book official photographers
Provide costings and source any branding materials required
Source all gifts and prizes
Arrange Guest Speakers / Sports Personalities
Preparation of letters of invitation
Handle all mailings to the invitees and competitors
Preparation of full information packs for competitors, personalised scorecards and any online information required

Event Management

On-site Event Management by experienced tournament staff to include:

Final liaison with the Golf Clubs on all aspects of the events
Provision of experienced Tournament Staff to look after the smooth running of each event
Pre-event set up of all promotional materials
Staff a check-in desk to welcome guests arrival
Provide official starters
Organise special competitions – Longest Drive, Nearest the Pin etc.
Co-ordinate on course refreshments with the Club staff
Administer any golf rulings required
Marking of all scorecards and preparation of the official results
Oversee all meals and refreshments
Prize-giving ceremony in conjunction with the Senior Company Executives

Essentially, we handle and direct everything in order to put on thoroughly professional, first class golf promotions. Just as importantly, we enjoy it too and love to promote a relaxed atmosphere allowing all the guests to be themselves and thoroughly enjoy your golf promotion.
